Mista, also
known as Ryan Schmidt, is a 23-year-old Central Florida resident originally
from South Carolina. Mista has been
motivated by music his whole life. Some
of his early influences were: Eminem, Puff Daddy, Tupac, Jeezy, and Project
Pat, as well as oldies and Latin music.
Mista is also an avid Tech N9ne fan for his uniqueness and how he thinks
outside the box and raps about things that no one else does. Furthermore, he highly respects his Strange
Music Label for being one of the largest independent underground labels in the
genre.
Mista began to
free style in middle school in the lunchroom for all his peers. He began rapping in 2006 with the local group
Pitch Black South. Without a studio
available to them, they recorded in cars, garages, and in bedroom closets. Eventually he ventured off on his own and
started the Mista Movement.
In 2009, Mista united with a small
independent label, The Super Producers Label Group with J Dot and Kuntri Boi
leading the reigns. Under this label he
has released three solo projects, which includes his latest and biggest release
to date, No More Mista Nice Guy,
digitally mastered by the infamous John Blanche. According to Judith of Hip Hop Weekly,
“Mista’s explosive voice tears through an album full of futuristic bass banging beats.” This CD also comprises music with features from other artists such as
DaMeat, Brabo Gator, and Burga (a.k.a. Mr. Say My Name). In addition, this CD encompasses his
eclectic style of music from the R&B sounds of “Operator” to his upbeat
rapping in “Swerve” featuring Burga. ‘No More Mista Nice Guy’ can be found on
sites such as ITunes, CD Baby, and Reverbnation.
Mista is
currently performing live throughout the South East. In the past, he has opened
up for Burga, Nappy Roots, Tay Dizm, Bubba Sparxxx, and Young Jeezy.
